Dear Parishioners and Friends,
January 11, 2024
Happy New Year!
We enter the new year with abundant gratitude for everyone who made the church, the campus, and Christmas liturgies so beautiful and the season so lovely – including all those who celebrated with us. Now we are ready for a new year and already getting ready for Lent. In the upcoming weeks, look for exciting offerings that we will have at Assumption as Lent begins – especially the opportunity to join a small group, and the 2024 Spring Speaker Series.
Small Groups at Assumption
Over the last few weeks and months, we have been offering opportunities to learn about the history of small groups in the church and the benefits for any parish – including Assumption. Starting later this month, you can sign up and experience it firsthand starting in Lent. We will have times during the week in the morning, after the noon Mass and in the evening to join others for a Lenten (and Easter) spiritual boost.
Join a small group for five weeks in Lent and one week after Easter to explore and discuss the following topics: 1. Turning to God; 2. God working through strong community; 3. God’s love for the beloved and broken us; 4. God’s love for a beloved and broken world; 5. How to understand the cross as victory – then and now; and 6. How to live with Easter hope.
2024 Spring Speaker Series – February 15-March 7
Last fall’s launch of Assumption’s Center for Catholic Social Thought and the fall speakers series was a huge success. Assumption’s Center for Catholic Social Thought is pleased to announce our Spring Speaker Series on the topic of Rebuilding Catholic Community, featuring, among others, Bishop Joseph Williams and writer/speaker Leah Libresco (author of Building the Bendict Option). The talks are Thursdays at 7:00pm, February 15-March 7, 2024, at the Assumption. All the evenings are free and open to the public and will include a reception. Sign up at https://www.catholicsocialthought.org/2024-spring-speaker-series.
As you can see, we are starting 2024 with some incredible opportunities to learn, discuss, get to know and enjoy others in the parish and beyond.
Street Parking
Street parking around Assumption may not be available due to covered parking meters. Please park in our Assumption parking lots for Mass or any activities at Assumption.
